After getting into a bad car accident, a pretty bent out of shape Vancouver Island man filmed his rescue from inside his vehicle. Rescue crews had to use the jaws of life to cut Andrew MacDonald out of his car after he smashed it into a pole.

During the video, rescue crews chat with MacDonald in order to keep him awake and cognitive.

"I just want to go to sleep now," said MacDonald at one point in the video. Encouraging him to stay awake, rescue crews finally manage to get MacDonald out of the vehicle.

On January 11th, MacDonald blacked out behind the wheel at 5:30 a.m., while he was driving home to Duncan after a night in Victoria.

He drove into a pole on the driver side of the vehicle at 60 kilometres an hour. The crash was in Duncan.

After the crew managed to get MacDonald out of the car, he was sent for major surgery in Victoria. Lasting a total of 14 hours over a couple of days, MacDonald had metal plates and screws put into his body and spent a month in hospital for recovery.
