Osoyoos
Canada’s only desert, Osoyoos, B.C is a quick, 1 hour and 38 minute drive from Kelowna, making it the perfect little road trip if you want to catch a few rays and enjoy the great outdoors. With some of the highest average temperatures in Canada year round, this beautiful town is sure to have you feeling all warm and fuzzy. The drive itself will take you past three magnificent lakes, and don’t be afraid to pull off for a quick swim!
In Osoyoos you can check out the first Aboriginal winery in all of North America, Nk’Mip Cellars to taste some fabulous wines, and if you want to turn this day trip into a weekend getaway, you have your pick of a few beautiful resorts that are right on the beach! Enderby
Slightly closer to Kelowna, where the Shuswap meets the Okanagan Valley, sits the quaint town of Enderby. Just a 1 hour 9 minute drive north of Kelowna, Enderby is a beautiful little day-trip destination.
Something unique about Enderby is that it is now the home of North America’s largest drive-in screen. The Starlight Drive In is the ideal spot to unwind with a great flick after taking a float down the Shuswap River!
Summerland
If you would prefer to stay close to Okanagan Lake, Summerland is just a 36 minute drive from Kelowna, in the heart of the Okanagan Valley. The drive itself offers some of the most beautiful views of the lake that you can get!
This little town in the South Okanagan is anything but ordinary. With an Olde English tudor style vibe, you are sure to feel the nostalgia when strolling downtown. Take a step back in time with a journey on the Kettle Valley Railway, or spend the day perusing the finest antique shops. Rich in history and heritage, the town of Summerland is like a whole museum.
Armstrong
Take in British Columbia’s gorgeous countryside with a trip to Armstrong. Settled amongst the dairy farms towards Shuswap Lake, this Western style town is just a 1 hour drive from Kelowna.
When in Armstrong, you cannot miss the award-winning fair, the Armstrong IPE. At the fair you can partake in fun amusement park rides, learn about agriculture, check out the rodeo, and support local vendors.
The drive from Kelowna to Armstrong features not only plenty of rolling fields and farmland, but also the ridiculously blue waters of Kalamalka Lake.
Westside Road
Filled with beautiful scenery as far as the eye can see, the Westside Road route, that takes you from West Kelowna to Vernon, is truly breathtaking. This unique roadway follows the shores of Okanagan Lake, so don’t forget to bring your camera along to snap some incredible scenic photos! With many new improvements underway, the 48 minute Westside Road journey will be even easier to drive in the near future.
