Art Lovers Gallery is expanding to a new location in the heart of Kelowna’s cultural district to host an international exhibition of painting and sculpture on loan this summer from the estate of the iconic Dr. Seuss.
“The Cat Behind the Hat” is a travelling exhibition of Theodor Seuss Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss). The exhibition features over 40 rare and collectable artworks including selections from his popular children’s books, and from his rarely-seen ‘Secret Art’. Art Lovers is western Canada’s only authorized representative of the “The Art of Dr. Seuss”.
The exhibit located at 1332 Water Street, Kelowna, opened to the public on Friday, July 10 and will remain open until Sunday, September 6. For the full experience, reservations are available between 11 am and 4 pm daily. Gallery occupancy is limited to three groups at a time, spaced at 15-minute intervals and COVID-19 protocols will be in place.
Art Lovers Gallery owners, DJ Block and David Church, provide a guided tour of the exhibit in a series of video clips that allow you to watch on your own device as you move through the Gallery’s viewing stations. An outdoor vantage point will be available to allow the enthusiast in you to enjoy the artwork at any time, without a reservation.
“We are proud to share this inspiring collection with our community and with visitors,” said DJ Block. “The art of Dr. Seuss speaks to all generations about joyfulness and enthusiasm despite all of life’s challenges. As we slowly emerge from our COVID isolation, let us take you into a world of whimsical stories and surreal artwork.”
