As we come towards the end of our BC Giveaway Series with BC Dairy Association, we'll spotlight one last local Okanagan business with an awesome giveaway that will be featured on the @KelownaNow Instagram page.

This giveaway series highlighted small dairy processors, cheese crafters, gelato makers and other local businesses that use BC dairy to make their products. Many local businesses have been significantly impacted by the disruption of COVID-19 and need our support more than ever. These contests were designed to give BC residents the chance to win delicious local products while showing support for small businesses in the community.

To further support communities, BC’s dairy farmers will also donate $1 for every contest entry to Food Banks BC up to $20,000 (inclusive of the entire campaign).

For the fifth and final giveaway, let's have a look at QB Gelato & Café.

Leaving behind corporate careers in big-city Vancouver to open an authentic gelato shop in Kelowna may sound like a dream, but for Kevin Bojda and Victor Laderoute, it is reality. They relocated to Kelowna from Downtown Vancouver in February 2017, subsequently opening QB Gelato & Café at 1884 Dayton Street in June of the same year.

And they know their stuff! Trust us, KelownaNow is located nearby and our team loves their treats and friendly service.

Speaking of treats, they make more than ‘just’ gelato. We stop in for some made-from-scratch desserts, bakery items, easy meals-to-go and to see what's on their ever-changing seasonal menu - all of which are available for you to order on-line.

We think you'll like how Kevin and Victor are committed to supporting local and using real, raw fresh ingredients. Because similar to their desserts, their gelato is made from scratch too. In fact, they’re pretty unique in this regard, with only 2% of the overall gelato industry committed to this practice.

That commitment is part of what inspired the couple to move to the Okanagan. The availability of local ingredients – from fresh milk to a plethora of herbs, berries, fruit, nuts and wine – meant Kelowna was a perfect spot to turn their gelato dream into a reality.

Of course, it wasn’t solely the local ingredients that brought Kevin and Victor to the Okanagan, as they admit to being attracted to the topography of the area – the mountains, the valley – and of course the lake! When they’re not at QB, they love exploring the entire Okanagan. Whether it is discovering new wineries, hiking trails or a farm.

So if you'd like to try the smooth taste of the Okanagan dream, visit @KelownaNow on Instagram to locate the recent contest posting and follow the contest rules to enter for your chance to win one of the 30 QB Gelato & Café $50 gift cards and because this is the last contest of the BC Giveaway series, QB Gelato & Café decided to come up big!

One ultimate winner will receive one-pint of gelato a week for a year for free! This winner must be from within the Okanagan Valley as they will need to come and collect this prize.

In total, there is 31 prize(s) available:

The contest will run from August 4th until August 10th, 2020, ending precisely at 11:59 pm.

Skill-testing question required. A potential winner must sign and deliver a release prior to receiving the prize(s). Odds of winning depend on a number of eligible entries received before contest closes.
