The Sustainable Development Challenge engages passionate youth in tackling pressing issues that impact the 17 United Nations’ Global Goals. This event is a chance to showcase the dedication and amazing work done by students K-12 working towards those goals.

Whether you’re an avid environmentalist, business owner, educator or are simply interested in hearing what our next generation of leaders are concocting, this free event is sure to fill you with inspiration and hope for a bright and sustainable future in the Okanagan!

The evening will begin with an expo of a variety of sustainability organizations, and display of artwork created by participants in the Arts for Social Change program. This program allowed students in grades K-12 to create original artwork that reflects one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that they’ve chosen to commit to.

This will be followed by an exciting live presentation of some of the innovative solutions that came out of the Project and Pitch program which invites youth in grades 8-12 to partner with community organizations and nonprofits to create a plan that works towards a more sustainable future. The students then pitch their plan to a live panel of judges, in front of a public audience! This year the show will be hosted by Councillor Loyal Wooldridge and some of the previous year’s student teams.

The audience will get to see the top 6 teams pitching to judges for a chance to win up to $5000 in financial support to turn their dreams into a reality! This year's teams are working on projects that they feel need attention, tackling topics like bike transportation, homelessness, solar energy and more!

"Interior Savings is proud to support these inspiring teams who are so committed to finding solutions to some of our communities and the world's most pressing environmental and social issues” adds Brian Harris, CEO of Interior Savings Credit Union. It is so important that we as  community focused businesses listen to their concerns and champion their ideas."

The event will take place at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, located on 421 Cawston Avenue Kelowna, BC V1Y 6Z1 on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 6 pm - 9 pm. But seating is limited so reserve your tickets now!
