Due to COVID-19, the ALS Society of BC has had to make some changes this year to their annual walk to end ALS on Saturday, June 20th, 2020.

It is now held as a collaborative walk all across BC, one day before Global ALS Awareness Day.

The walk will now be held virtually to encourage social distancing and the safety of all the participants.

What is a virtual walk?

In previous years, the Walk to End ALS was organized with the community by the ALS Society of BC to walk together through Kelowna to raise funds to help end ALS.

This year, since we unfortunately, cannot walk together, we can still support each other from afar. So they challenge you to participate in a social distance walk in your neighbourhood to raise funds virtually by making a donation to your ALS account.

Encourage your family and friends to participate in their own virtual walk too!

Simply choose a time to walk that works for you and take a stroll in your neighbourhood.

Share a photo or video of you walking on your social media pages and post it on your fundraising page

Of course, this is not limited to walking, show off your jump rope skills, running, or just being active by doing a sweet flip on the trampoline.

What is great about this year’s iteration you are able to choose your own path. Hop on your bike and explore the rail trail, hike up Knox Mountain to check out the stunning city views or stroll along Kelowna’s beautiful beaches. Don’t forget to snap a cool selfie and encourage your friends to take part!

The possibilities are endless and 100% of the funds raised go to support patient care in BC as well as Canadian ALS researchers.

Brain Canada will also be matching all donations, up to one million dollars!

Don’t forget to tag: @alsbc and continue using hashtags  #WalktoEndALS; #ALSDoesntStop; #communityisntcancelled
