Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise is part of an international organization with over 1.2 million worldwide members, including some of your Kelowna neighbours, friends, leaders and problem solvers who are committed to creating lasting change both globally and locally.

Globally, members of Rotary have a shared responsibility to take action on persistent issues including, promoting peace and conflict prevention, fighting disease, saving mothers and children, supporting education and literacy, growing local economies and providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene and supporting the environment.

Clubs from all areas of the globe come together to make the world a better place through initiatives in support of various causes each year.

Locally Kelowna Sunrise meets weekly on Fridays at 7:01 am via Zoom or in person. Their motto is “Service Above Self” and it truly shows in their commitment to the community.

Every year, the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise organizes fundraisers such as the Annual Raffle or RibFest in support of local charities. Their major event this year is the Rotary Season of Giving Calendar with a goal to sell 6,000 calendars for $20 each to raise funds for the major beneficiaries:  the Child Advocacy Center and the Neonatal ICU at Kelowna General Hospital through the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.

This isn’t your traditional calendar!  Local artist Dale Dirks created an original painting for the calendar that contains 24 windows that will reveal a total of 261 prizes, from December 1 to 24, 2021. Daily, unique ticket numbers will be drawn that correspond to the number printed on the inside of each calendar.  If your number is drawn, you win one of the many prizes totalling $62,319, hidden behind the doors.

Winning numbers will be announced through KelownaNow, the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary “Season of Giving Calendar” website, and via weekly updates posted in the Capital News.

Club president Marjolein Lloyd says, “These calendars are very affordable allowing anyone to purchase one for $20.00 to give back to the community. We may be a club of 80 members but there are 150,000 people in the Central Okanagan that can also give back and this is a great way for them to support local children and maybe win a cool prize while they’re at it.”

Calendars are now on sale at select Save-On-Foods in Kelowna: Mission Store on Lakeshore, Orchard Plaza, Glenmore, Rutland, as well as West Kelowna and Lake Country stores as well as at the Kelowna General Hospital Gift Shop.

Get yours while you still can!
