In this episode of Business Matters, presented by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, host Rob Cupello is joined by Trina Speiser from the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

The Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB), an essential lifeline for about 6% of the Kelowna and West Kelowna population, continues to bring innovative fundraising ideas to the community. Serving roughly 6,750 people each month, the food bank's annual events are an important part of its operations.

This year, its highly-anticipated 2nd annual golf tournament scheduled for June 16 has already sold out, but they've managed to create an exciting and unique opportunity for the wider community to participate.

“Because we can only have 130 golfers and so many sponsors, we actually came up with this audacious idea to have a heli ball drop,” explains Speiser.

This unique fundraising concept offers a fun twist on traditional raffles and promises to bring a new level of excitement to the event.

“We’re selling numbered golf balls, there’s two tiers, and Vahalla Helicopters is going to scoop up all these golf balls that we’ve sold and drop them on the fairway.”

The first-ever COFB helicopter ball drop will take place on June 16 at 7 pm, providing an extraordinary spectacle for all in attendance.

But it's not just about the spectacle. The closest ball to the target in each tier will win an amazing cash prize.

For a purchase of $25, you can enter Tier 1 for a chance at $7000 prize. Alternatively, for a $50 contribution, you can enter Tier 2 for a shot at the $3000 prize.

If you're interested in joining this innovative and exciting fundraising event, you can purchase your ball here

Not only will you have the chance to win a considerable cash prize, but your contribution will also support the Central Okanagan Food Bank's vital mission in our community.
