Mod Salon is Kelowna’s only earth-conscious, vegan, team-cultured, luxury hair salon.

“We’re experts at blending luxury with the values of being conscious of all life,” says owner Tabatha Barker.

All this pampering, opulence and eco-aesthetic started at Mod Salon on Pandosy Street and has expanded to sister salon, Mod Style Bar on Lakeshore Road, where you can also sip a glass of Champagne while getting a blow out.

“The Pandosy location is what put us on the map,” says Tabatha.

“The Lakeshore location is where we can create more freedom in the design elements and add another aspect to the full-service salon by adding the liquor license and blow-out bar – something that Kelowna has never seen before.”

Love is the foundation of Mod.

“We love what we do, we love what we create, our guests and each other,” says Tabatha.

“With that, we also love Champagne! Everyday we want to celebrate each other and our guests. Champagne is the perfect accompaniment to that mindset and our luxury element to the full salon experience.”

Speaking of that emotion, the Pandosy salon is full of big white balloons with LOVE printed on them, the Lakeshore style bar, pink balloons with the same sentiment.

“The love balls are an art installation to remind us of just that,” says Tabatha.

Mod has established a reputation for beauty, style, quality, customer service and love that takes years to achieve.

“With that comes the trust that guests give up everyday,” says Tabatha.

“Our love exudes in every cut, every colour and every interaction.”

“Hair is a huge part of someone’s identity. We take our craft very seriously, but we also have a lot of fun along the way. We have a very high standard of service. We value education. That keeps us current on trends and projections of our industry. That is why guests come to Mod and continue to come to Mod.”

Mod’s highly-trained stylists have certificates from Vidal Sassoon, Bumble and Bumble, Oribe and Davines.

All products used are sustainable and made with pure ingredients and help make Mod a Green Circle Salon that recycles 92-95% of all materials – even hair trimmings.

Thus, Mod’s mantra of being earth-conscious while creating beauty with love and passion.

It all makes Mod current and bold, an embracer of individuality and diversity and a big city style leader in a small city.

This culture of excellence is deliberate and hard-earned.

“We are education forward, always staying on top of trends, styles and business opportunities,” says Tabatha.

“We are very team-oriented, a very close family vibe supporting each other at all levels. We value our customers by going above and beyond what is expected, elevating our guests’ time in the salon is in the details of the service.”

That means in-depth consultations, stylist education and skill, the quality of the service itself and putting the guest experience above all else.
