Canine Campus is in growth mode once again.
It's a natural pace for Canine Campus as it offers clients and their dogs exactly what they need and want.
"We have some amazing new staff and we've opened our facility up not just for doggie daycare and dog school, but for boarding, as well," said owner Terilynn Mulders.
The overnight boarding is unique to Canine Campus.
Dogs can have sleepovers at Canine Campus' 5,000-square-foot facility at 2109 Louie Drive in West Kelowna.
Or, if the pet owners want, Terilynn will take their dog home with her for the night.
"Whether they are boarded at the facility or I take them home, the dogs are never left alone because someone is at the facility 24/7 and, of course, if they're at my house, I'm there," says Terilynn with a laugh.
The Canine Campus team of 10 are close like family.
"And we don't think of any of our clients as clients," says Terilynn.
"We call them our Canine Campus family. I feel it's important to have close relationships and a strong bond with people, after all we're caring for their beloved dogs."
Canine Campus has always prided itself on being different from other doggie daycares and dog schools.
It doesn't discriminate against any breeds and accepts dogs of all sizes, breeds and abilities for daycare, training and socialization.
A full evaluation with every dog is done so Canine Campus knows what play group to introduce the dog to, be it the small dog, larger dog, puppy, adult, timid or rambunctious group.
Any behavioural issues are addressed right away so the environment is always safe for them and other dogs.
Canine Campus is always working on dogs' manners and obedience as they go through their day from play time to lunchtime to nap time.
"Also we have our one-on-one training hikes with dogs where we take a dog out for an assessment and then go out again with their owner to show them how they can go on fun and successful hikes themselves in the future," explains Terilynn.
Canine Campus also has a regular three-hour hike it leads for like-minded groups of dogs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Terilynn has always loved animals, always had dogs and did a lot of work at the SPCA when she was growing up.
However, she ended up at Canine Campus by accident.
After a tennis injury, she was off work for a few months and decided not to go back to her old job.
Instead, she applied for a dream position at Canine Campus and got the job.
And then, after a few years,Terilynn jumped at the opportunity to buy Canine Campus from the previous owner.
"I've had ups and downs as the new owner, dealing with COVID and learning to navigate everything," says Terilynn.
"But I take one day at a time and we always give the best service to all the dogs in our care."
