Nicola Finch is proud to be nominated for a RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award as a woman of influence in the 'women empowering women' category.

After all, the entirety of Nicola's 40 years in the medispa business has been about championing women, teaching, sharing knowledge and opportunities and the betterment of the industry.

Nicola started working in her mom's two hair removal and skin care clinics in Vancouver at the age of 13.

Nicola has owned and operated Nicola Finch Laserspa Academy in Kelowna at 1289 Ellis St. for the past 27 years, making it one of the first laser clinics in the city.

"I'm so proud to be able to teach the amazing profession to women all across Canada," says Nicola.

"I not only have students from the Okanagan, but students coming from all across Canada."

As a private medispa, the business offers the highest quality laser hair removal, skin tightening, body contouring, intense pulse light for skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion, dermal infusion, micro-needling and dermaplaning with top-of-the-line, class-1V, medical-grade lasers.

The same exceptional lasers are used by students for one-on-one training in medical aesthetics courses at the only full-medical aesthetics academy in the Okanagan, which is accredited through the Canadian Association of Medical Spas and Aesthetics Surgeons.

The academy also offers advanced online courses for professionals already working in the industry in microdermabrasion, facial peels, dermaplaning, micro-needling and laser safety.

"We only have six students max at a time. We like to get to know our students and will always be there for them to help them succeed," says Nicola.

"We have helped to set up many students to open their own business and become hugely successful."

In fact, medispas from all over the country send employees to the academy for training and medispas from across Canada reach out to the academy to hire graduating students.

"Our motto is: Raising the standards of professionalism," says Nicola.

"Sadly, our profession is not regulated, so I felt it important to teach students and award them a certification they are proud to hang on their wall."

Nicola Finch Laserspa Academy is also a family business with Nicola's daughter, Alexandra, as the third generation involved in the industry.

"We offer personal, one-on-one service at a reasonable price and that's resulted in amazing word of mouth for our clinic and our academy," says Nicola.

"It also resulted in a Best Business in Canada Award from the Canadian Business Review Board for customer satisfaction, business leadership, outstanding service and vision."

Congratulations Nicola Finch Laserspa Academy!
