Rutland Medical Pharmacy is Kelowna’s best kept secret.

“We’re a hidden gem,” says pharmacist-owner Steven Hopp.

“We always give our customers the time and high-level care they deserve.”

Rutland Medical Pharmacy is not like your typical retail pharmacy.

Many of the pharmacy’s customers are patients from surrounding doctors’ offices and benefit from the pharmacy’s collaboration with doctors and nurses.

Pharmacists also have direct access to patients’ notes and lab results.

“This provides us with a more complete picture of patients’ medical conditions and health care needs compared to other pharmacies,” says Steven.

Even if clients are not seeing a doctor in the surrounding offices, Rutland Medical Pharmacy evaluates each client’s medication and health care needs in a complete, comprehensive and holistic manner.

Rutland Medical Pharmacy is small and intimate.

They have three long-time staff members who develop relationships with their customers, getting to know each customer and their needs intimately.

“We are a family, and our customers become part of that family. There is genuine care and compassion for everyone and we always try to ensure that people feel better when they leave than when they came in,” says Steven.

At some other pharmacies it has become the norm to wait hours for a prescription but Rutland Medical Pharmacy is able to fill prescriptions and offer services in minutes.

Although appointments can be made, they can also offer walk-in vaccination services, including travel vaccines.

Generous staffing schedules allow for free prescription delivery within Kelowna and comprehensive medication reviews in a private counselling room.

During this service, patients can review with a pharmacist their prescribed and non-prescription medications and over-the-counter products, as well as discussing medical conditions, health, nutrition, lab results and any other concerns the patient may have.

Rutland Medical Pharmacy can extend prescriptions for people under the prescription adaptation program, do intramuscular or subcutaneous injections, offer advice with smoking cessation, addiction and mental health concerns, do 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, do compression stocking fittings, and help people enroll in the Lifeline program.

“If we focus on the success of our customers, on the continuous improvement of their health and wellness, we don’t have to worry about Rutland Medical Pharmacy being successful as a business,” says Steven.

“The business will be successful as a direct result of our customers. We are honoured to be your pharmacy.”
