Three ‘Consumer Choice Awards’ for business excellence.

Three-time best guard services from Vision magazine’s Canadian Business Awards.

Best mobile security.

Most reliable security service provider in BC.

And a Quality Business Award for best security services in Kelowna.

The accolades for Hero Security just keep on coming.

While having your name on a trophy is thrilling and exciting, what the awards mean to Hero Security is that it is doing an exceptional job for its clients.

Some of Hero Security's best-known clients are the City of West Kelowna, Central Okanagan Regional District, Greyback Construction, Norson Construction, Innocept Developments and KF Aerospace’s new Centre for Excellence.

For the City of West Kelowna, Hero security guards open and close parks and provide event security and emergency response.

For the regional district, Hero security guards monitor right of ways in flooding and fire zones.

And, Hero guards provide construction site security for Greyback, Norson and Innocept..

As such, Hero Security's real success is client retention.

"We still have the two original clients we had when my wife, Kamaljit, and I started Hero Security in 2006," says co-owner Harjit Toora with a smile.

"Once we have a client they tend to be satisfied and tend not to leave."

From those two original clients 16 years ago, Hero Security in the Central Okanagan has grown to have over 100 clients at any given time and 80 staff.

Hero has also opened operations in Prince George and has 10 staff there.

To offer full-service to both new and existing clients, Hero also installs and monitors alarm systems and cameras and responds to any emergencies with a security guard.

Hero’s service offerings have also grown to include everything from mobile patrol services (such as alarm response and interior and exterior premises checks), construction site security and emergency express service to apartment complex, special events and parking and parking lot security.

Hero’s security guards receive basic-and-advanced customized training from former RCMP officers.

Harjit lists that expertise, exceptional service, fast response times and being a locally owned-and-operated company as keys to Hero Security's success.

"If you have a crisis like a fire or flooding or a break-in we can have a security guard there in one to two hours with our express guard service," explains Harjit.

"It's a service no other company in the Thompson Okanagan has."

Harjit is hands-on, making his company even more local and responsive.

"Our clients don't have to wait for decisions to come down from head office in Vancouver or Toronto because Hero is based here and all decisions are made locally for fast and effective service," says Harjit.

Harjit is a mechanical and industrial engineer, who took the security system technician program at the BC Institute of Technology to become an entrepreneur and start up Hero.

Hero Security is also community minded and provides discounted and free security services to charities and donates to Canadian Blood Services, Crime Stoppers and John Howard Society.
