The YMCA of Southern Interior BC is more than just a gym. It’s a charity, and community of individuals who are dedicated to helping you overcome obstacles and achieve your health and wellness goals.

Open to all ages and ability levels, your local YMCA centres offer a wide variety of programs to support your mental, and physical well being.

What’s in a membership?

Whether you’re training to hike Everest, recovering from an injury, or just beginning to set fitness goals, the Y is here to help you thrive.

Ongoing health coaching is included in membership to help members develop and stick with a healthy routine that fits their lifestyle. They also have a variety of beginner to advanced fitness classes available. Many members find the classes highly motivating and social- you may even make a new friend or two.

At the H2O Adventure or Family Y locations, you can also enjoy the added luxury of heading over to the pool, hot tub or steam room after your workout. The Y also offers virtual programs at no additional cost, including live fitness classes, coaching programs, fitness challenges, and more.

Alongside individual and student memberships, the Y also offers family memberships to suit the needs of the whole family. This makes it easy for everyone to get active under one roof, as kids have fun in child minding, swimming lessons, and recreational activities while parents workout (or just relax in the hot tub)!

Child minding removes the barrier many parents face when starting a fitness routine, offering supervised play for kids aged 0-12, with special attention for babies.

Mental health is physical health

The research supporting the effect of exercise on mental wellbeing is astounding. In addition to physical activity to support your mental health, the Y also offers meditation classes at the Kelowna Family Y to help promote mindfulness.

For teens and young adults, the Y also offers YMind free to the community. This psychoeducational program helps participants develop coping skills to manage stress and anxieties.

Supporting our community

As a charity, the Y is dedicated to strengthening the foundations of our community.

To ensure everyone can access a healthy lifestyle, they offer a financial assistance program for families and individuals living below the poverty line (thanks to generous local donors), and they also offer reduced cost memberships for students.

For those with chronic conditions the Y also offers specialty health programs for seniors, and those living with various chronic conditions. With programs such as Healthy Hip & Knees and Breathe Well, the Y aims to help everyone maintain healthy activity levels no matter their ability level.
