Seven Confirmed Dead in Crash of Historic Jet on British Highway

The aircraft that crashed into a British highway on Saturday, August 22nd, is now known to have killed seven people and to have caused one life-threatening injury.

It was a historic military jet called the Hawker Hunter that collided with vehicles on highway A27 in Sussex.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed the number of deaths declared at the scene, as well as the single serious injury and 14 more minor injuries.

Several helicopters and ten Fire and Rescue Service appliances have been sent to the scene. The helicopters will be used to evacuate casualties.

The Hawker Hunter, a subsonic jet aircraft was participating in an air show at the Shoreham Airport when the crash occurred. The incident is being looked into by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.
