Victims of Oregon Mass Shooting Identified

The names of the nine victims of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon have been released by police.

According to Sheriff John Hanlin, the Oregon State Police Medical Examiner’s Office provided the names of the following victims:

The Sheriff also clarified that a total of nine people were injured, not seven as initially believed.

Lastly, the medical examiner has confirmed the shooter as 26-year-old Christopher Sean Harper-Mercer from Winchester, Oregon.

He was a student at Umpqua Community College and was enrolled in the class where the mass shooting took place.

Earlier on Friday, police revealed that 14 weapons were recovered from Harper-Mercer, including six at the school and seven from his home. All the weapons were legally purchased.

Police said that the college is expected to reopen next week. 

On Thursday, a frustrated President Barack Obama addressed America with yet another somber reminder that gun violence in the States must be met with sufficient gun laws.
