The lead subject in the latest Netflix craze, Making a Murderer, has once again put in an appeal.

Steven Avery from Manitowoc County, Wisconsin still maintains his innocence when it comes to the death of Teresa Halbach, which he was sentenced to life in prison for.

Avery filed his first appeal in 2010, which was eventually denied.

So far this year, Avery has filed a motion for relief, which would give him permission to put up property against what he owes, and he also put in a motion for release on bond, both with the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.

In his motions, Avery details that the searches weren’t done legally, and the evidence gathered is “the fruit of a poisonous tree,” illegally obtained evidence.

Avery also wrote that one juror had preconceived notions that he was guilty, depriving him of an impartial jury and trial.

Specifically, he said the juror made repeated and numerous comments like, “He is (explicit) guilty,” and intimidated other jurors.

The Avery case has recently gained popularity with coverage in its own docuseries on the popular movie streaming service.
