The US presidential election is on Tuesday and the result will have plenty of impact on Canadians and the rest of the world.

However, some British Columbians have a little more interest in the result, as the BC Lottery Corporation says that over $2 million has been wagered on the outcome through PlayNow.com.

More than two-thirds of that money has been put on Donald Trump, as bettors have placed nearly 3,000 bets totalling more than $1.4-million on the incumbent.

Trump’s odds were up around 2.55 just two weeks ago, but they’ve since dropped to 2.35.

Meanwhile, bettors have placed just under 1,500 bets on Biden for a total of $622,000, as the former vice-president is the favourite with 1.58 odds one day before the election.

If Trump wins, bettors will be paid out more than $3.4 million, while a Biden victory would mean a payout of over $1 million.

The direct outcome isn’t the only thing that bettors will be interested in, however, as another $1 million or so in wagers has been placed on the rest of certain states, electoral college and the popular vote.
