British prime minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for COVID-19.

He revealed on social media today that he had “developed mild symptoms” for the virus over the last 24 hours.

“I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus,” he said.

“Together we will beat this.”

Both Justin Trudeau and German chancellor Angela Merkel have also self-isolated after being exposed to the virus.
