One man is in custody following in explosion in New York on Monday morning.
The explosion happened in an underground walkway at Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal shortly at approximately 7:20 a.m. local time.

NYPD Commissioner James P. McNeil identified the suspect as 27-year-old Akayed Ullah.
Ullah detonated the pipe bomb with three people in his vicinity, which have all suffered non-life threatening injuries like minor burns, lacerations and ringing ears.

Some local new sources are reporting that Ullah was wearing a type of homemade suicide vest that detonated earlier than he had planned.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio addressed the situation, calling it an attempt terrorist attack.

“There are no additional known incidents at this time, there are no additional known activities,” said de Blasio. “At this point in time all we know is of one individual, who was thankfully unsuccessful in his aims.”
Some of the area and subways have reopened as the police continue to investigate the incident.
