Smoke is making its way north of the border from Washington State and people living in the Boundary region of BC may begin to notice it.

Those living in the communities of Grand Forks, Rock Creek and Midway will notice heavy smoke in the air as a result of the wildfire burning on Toroda Mountain. The size of the fire is estimated at 40 hectares and is being managed by crews in Washington State’s Department of Natural Resources.
The smoky conditions are expected to continue for several days as a result of the fire and weather conditions. With any growth of the fire the amount of smoke seen in the region will also increase.

Since July 24th, 2014 the BC Wildfire Management Branch has responded to 32 wildfires in the Southeast Fire Centre, with the majority of them small, spot sized fires. Luckily none of those fires have threatened any properties or infrastructure.
