Wildfire Near Naramata

Update:  The Naramata wildfire is now fully contained.  You can read more details here.

UPDATE: The wildfire is now 2.5 hectares in size but crews are getting the upper hand on it. According to BC Wildfire Information Officer Kelsey Winter the fire is now 75 per cent contained and 13 firefighters and two helicopters are working on the wildfire.

A wildfire has sprung up near Naramata Road Tuesday afternoon.

"The Naramata Fire Department is on site and has requested the assistance of the Kamloops Fire Centre.  We are responding with two initial attack crews and a response officer to attack the blaze. Air support is on the way shortly," said Fire Information Officer Kelsey Winter.

The fire is currently sitting at 1.5 hectares.  It was reported at approximately 1:30 pm, and it is not known if there are any structures in immediate danger.
