The last lift for downhill biking and alpine hiking at Silver Star mountain went over the weekend, but that doesn’t mean the season is over for cross country mountain biking.
The mountain has announced an extension for the mountain biking and valley hiking season until September 28th. There has been close to a 20 per cent increase in visits over last summer and the resort will continue to host ticket holders on select, maintained paths on the lower cross country bike trails. Silver Star has become a sought after mountain biking destination over the past few years and continues to see growth as expansions draw riders.
Kicking off the 2014 riding season with the addition of over 20 kilometers of new downhill and cross-country mountain biking trails, the Silver Star Bike Park was a massive draw for all levels of riders including some of the biggest names in professional riding today, such as top ranking World Cup competitors Troy Brosnan and Aaron Gwin.
“We’re now reflecting on one of our best summer seasons in history,” says Anne Haight, director of marketing and sales at Silver Star. “We’re extremely pleased with the response to our new terrain and the ongoing loyalty of our visitors. While avid mountain bikers were riding in the park, we had a lot of families come out to explore our cross-country trails and ride our scenic SkyChair to higher alpine hiking trails. The resort was buzzing from June to September and we expect the same again for summer 2015 as the word spreads of our terrain, awards and friendly community.”
After September 28th Silver Star will switch gears and prepare for the 2014/2015 winter season. Early bird season pass pricing will remain in place until September 30th, 2014 for those who are looking to get in early for the upcoming ski and snowboard season.
