A woman was rescued from a chimney in Thousand Oaks, California and later arrested for trespassing.

Residents of the area called police Sunday morning saying that they were hearing sounds of a female crying. When they responded, they found Genoveva Nunez-Figuerosa stuck inside a chimney of one of the houses.

Firefighters had to remove bricks to get to the woman, and they lubricated the chimney with dishwashing soap to lift her out. She was transported to Los Robles Regional Medical Centre for treatment.

The investigation by the police showed that she'd climbed in the chimney to enter the home. Police arrested her for both illegal entry and providing false information to a peace officer. According to local media, the resident of the home had been in a relationship with Nunez-Figuerosa and recently broken it off because of her unusual behaviour.

It's safe to say they won't be getting back together anytime soon.
