An economy hotel brand is hoping to come to Kelowna, along Highway 97, in the future.

SKJJ Holdings Inc. has submitted an application with the city for a development permit for a Microtel Inn & Suites, by Wyndham Hotel Group.

The Microtel Inns & Suites brand is a chain of new construction only economy hotels located throughout North America, South America and Asia.  All Microtel hotels are typically two to four storeys.

The hotel is looking to go up at 2629 Highway 97 North, where North Pointe Inn & Suites is located. The hotel’s landscape plan says the building would include 65 rooms.

The application has been accepted the City of Kelowna, but has yet to go before council for consideration.
