It’s fizzy, it’s rather addictive, and it’s definitely tasty, but what does it do to your insides?

Explored by a non-traditional medical information site which goes by the name of Renegade Pharmacist, this organization explains how your body reacts to drinking a can of pop.

Pinpointing fructose corn syrup as the culprit to our metabolism woes, the Renegade Pharmacist says drinking a can of Coke will target your liver, making a lot of bad fats as it works through your metabolism.

In the first ten minutes, ten teaspoons of sugar hits your system, causing your blood sugar levels to spike and creating an insulin burst.

After the caffeine is absorbed into your body, your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the "pleasure centres" of your brain. Interestingly enough, the Renegade says this process mirrors the effects of heroin in your body.

After bringing your body up, gravity suggests that you'll soon be crashing.

"You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You've also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth," read the Renegade Pharmacist infograph.

The Renegade Pharmacist provides health information in an entertaining, tongue-in-cheek kind of way. According to their Facebook page, they offer alternative and traditional remedies for modern illnesses.
