Wrestling Star Roddy Piper Dies at Age 61

Wrestling star Roderick Toombs has died at the age of 61.

The WWE Hall of Fame wrestler, better known as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, died from cardiac arrest in his Hollywood home on Friday.

“Roddy Piper was one of the most entertaining, controversial and bombastic performers ever in WWE, and beloved by millions of fans around the world,” said WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon. “I extend my deepest condolences to his family.”

Toombs was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1954 and made his professional wrestling debut in Winnipeg at the age of 15.

He made his debut with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in 1984 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 as one of the greatest villains in wrestling history.
