A Shuswap actress will star on the big screen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the upcoming film The Revenant.

Gracey Dove is originally from Canim Lake Indian Band in Northern BC and lives in Vancouver where she is pursuing her acting career. The actress currently stars as the host of UnderExposed, a show on APTN. She made the announcement about her leap to the big screen on her Instagram page this week saying she’s thrilled to reveal the secret.

“I had the honour this summer to work alongside some of the biggest names in the industry and I am SO grateful to the creator and my ancestors for guiding me through this whirlwind of an adventure,” said Dove.

Dove will play DiCaprio’s wife in the film which was directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and mainly shot in Argentina and in the desert in California.

“Right from the beginning, I made bold choices in my audition, manifested greatness, and truly believed this is exactly where I belong. I can’t express how thankful I am for DiCaprio’s generosity, and for sharing his insights on the work and what it means to be a storyteller,” added Dove.

The movie is inspired by true events and stars DiCaprio as legendary explorer Hugh Glass, who is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. Glass endures hardships as he navigates a vicious winter desperate for survival and redemption.

The movie will be distributed by 20th Century Fox and will be released on Christmas day.
