Super Bowl 51 was one for the history books.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots completed one of the most astonishing comebacks in sports history to win the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl in the last 16 seasons.

At halftime, however, the score was 21-3 for the Atlanta Falcons and Canadian tennis star Eugenie (Genie) Bouchard was feeling pretty confident in her prediction.

“I knew the Falcons would win btw,” she tweeted out.

It didn’t take long for a Twitter user to chime in with likely the best gamble he’s ever made in his life, asking Bouchard if she’d go on a date with him if the Patriots won.

Bouchard quickly responded “sure” and the rest is history as the Patriots came back to win and Bouchard learned a valuable lesson about betting against Tom Brady.

That Twitter user turned out to be 20-year-old John Goehrke from Chicago, Illinois and just 10 days after the infamous bet, Bouchard paid up.

She flew Goehrke out to New York, put him up in a hotel and the pair attended a Brooklyn Nets game for their ‘first date’.

Bouchard documented much of the night on Snapchat, Instagram and other forms of social media and the pair were also interviewed in the arena.

The date looked a little awkward at times, as expected, but from all accounts it appeared as if Goehrke held his own despite being on the world stage.

At one point, during a Snapchat video, Bouchard asked Goehrke how the date was going and the 20-year-old responded as you’d expect.

“Very good, the best date ever,” said Goehrke, although he didn’t seem entirely convincing.

While Goehrke seemed fairly subdued for a lot of the date, one has to imagine he was just trying to play it cool for his superstar date.

Apparently it worked, because TMZ caught up with the pair after the game and asked if there would be a second date.

Bouchard didn’t even hesitate before saying “for sure!”

If it does end up escalating into an actual relationship, what a story it would be to tell the grandkids.
