The Vancouver Canucks will have a new home down the dial come this fall.

Rogers Media, who owns Sportsnet, has purchased AM 650 from Newcap Inc. and will turn it into a new all-sports radio station.

Sportsnet 650 will be Rogers’ third all-sports station in Canada, following 590 The FAN in Toronto and Sportsnet 960 The FAN in Calgary.

Vancouver’s new Sportsnet station will broadcast all 82 Canucks games starting next season, although it’s not yet known how the games will be broadcast around the rest of the province.

“We are excited to build upon our strong radio brands in the Vancouver market,” said Julie Adam, Senior Vice President of Rogers Media Radio.  “With Vancouver being such a passionate sports town, there is a strong appetite for all-sports radio that delivers engaging conversation, wide-ranging opinion, and top-tier live sports content.”

Along with Canucks games, Sportsnet will also broadcast Toronto Blue Jays games and MLB post-season games.

Additional details about further programming and on-air personalities will be announced in the coming months.

Sportsnet 650 will launch in the fall, likely ahead of the NHL pre-season.
