Layoffs in the media world are nothing new and on Wednesday they hit ESPN.
The American sports giant started a round of layoffs that expect to see around 100 employees terminated or given their notice by the end of the day.

While ESPN hasn’t formally announced any of the specific cuts, media personalities began to share the news of their firings via social media.
One of the biggest layoffs so far, at least in the eyes of Canadians, is NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun, who most will recognize from his work on TSN.
After nine years at ESPN, LeBrun was laid off on Wednesday, but he will continue his work for TSN and their french equivalent RDS.

LeBrun wasn’t the only hockey reporter to be laid off either, as the network also let go of Scott Burnside.
NFL reporter Ed Werder was another layoff and after 17 years at ESPN he says he has no plans to retire following this news.
Former quarterback turned NFL analyst, Trent Dilfer, was another one of Wednesday’s layoffs.

A lot of the layoffs included regional reporters, college analysts and radio personalities.
