This classic Christmas play with a Kelowna twist is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

A Kelowna Christmas Carol is set to open its curtains on Thursday, December 14th. The event will run from December 14th to December 17th, with a last chance to view the show on the 21st. The Rotary Centre for the Arts will host the show and is offering various show times.

This play aims to incorporate all the classic characters of Dicken’s original Christmas Carol while simultaneously placing them in Kelowna.

“Our play looks at the character of Scrooge in a very unique way. I have incorporated stories of Kelowna historical figures such as one of the city's first doctors Dr. Benjamin Boyce and his wife, Mary; Countess Bubna, the exotic first owner of The Eldorado, then called The Eldorado Arms Hotel; Frank and Nell DeHart and Mar Jok. Arthur Knox, the land magnet that owned almost all of Kelowna from Water Street to The Mission, plays an important role, too,” says Gratz.

Community members such as Mayor Colin Basran, Dom Rampone and Councillor Maxine DeHart have been invited to take part in the play as hosts.

The play has been receiving a huge response and because of this tickets are selling out fast. You can buy tickets online at www.rotarycentreforthearts.com or visit the Rotary Centre for the Arts box office.
