After four and a half years of extensive filming and no budget, This Living Salish Sea will be shown to the community in Kelowna on Saturday, November 18th.

With extensive underwater cinematography, This Living Salish Sea shows the life and beauty of the environment.

The filmmaker, Sarama, grew up on a farm in Kelowna, and says it was in Lake Okanagan where he had his first diving experiences.

The feature-length film explores the “living treasure of the Salish Sea and the powerful undercurrents of resistance to the corporate fossil fuel agenda that threaten it.”

The film looks at the local communities and First Nations groups that fight to protect the environment from industry such as Kinder Morgan. It also features talks with scientists, along with detailed research, in order to reveal impacts to local ecosystems, climate change, and ocean acidification.

Sarama will be attending the screening event on November 18th at The Rotary Centre for the Arts at 7 p.m.

Admission is by donation. For more information, visit the This Living Salish Sea website, or Facebook.
