One of the world’s biggest pop stars is sporting a new kidney.

It’s been a fairly quiet summer for Selena Gomez, but there’s a good reason why she was flying under the radar.

The 25-year-old was diagnosed with Lupus in the fall of 2015 and this year was informed that she would need a kidney transplant.

On Thursday morning, she revealed that the transplant had already happened through a heartfelt Instagram post.

She thanked her family and the “incredible team of doctors” for getting her through the process, but there was one particular person she singled out.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Gomez wrote.

“She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. Thank you so much sis.”

Along with a picture of the two girls in their hospital beds, Gomez also shared pictures of her scar in the Instagram post as well.

Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs.

The main symptoms include fevers and extreme fatigue, but it can also lead to organ damage.
