Just in time for the holidays, BC Arts Council is awarding more than 400 artists and arts organizations in 57 communities throughout the province close to $5 million in funding.

The funding is meant to assist emerging B.C. artists through scholarships and early career development and support arts and culture more broadly through professional development, project assistance and touring initiatives.

The awards are the result of applications examined through the BC Arts Council's independent peer-review process between June 1st and September 30th, 2016.

"These awards demonstrate the vitality and diversity of arts and culture activities in the province. B.C.'s artists are recognised for their high quality and ability to enhance our lives and stimulate curiosity and dialogue," the Chair of BC Arts Council Merla Beckerman.

"Individually and collectively, our artists and arts organizations contribute to building communities, strengthening the economy and providing enjoyment for all."

Kelowna’s Ballet Society, Okanagan Symphony, Children’s Festival Society and Visual and Performing Arts Centre we're among the recipients for Kelowna.
