Barbie might not look a day over 21, but she is celebrating her 58th birthday this year and one creative team out of Kelowna has made it one to remember.

Barbie was first created on March 9th, 1959, and Jade Wolf and her crew weren’t going to let it go off without a bang.

In their true fashion, they put on an out-of-this-world photoshoot that is bringing back all the memories. Let’s just say, if you were ever a six-year-old girl you’ll know what I’m talking about.

With the help of a very creative (and determined) crew, Wolf was able to bring a giant Barbie cake to life.

The cake, which is approximately four feet tall and five feet wide, was made big enough so that the model, Makenna of DejaVu Model Management, could get right in.

“Our purpose for this project and all of Barbie by Wolfette, is to explore our creative abilities and show the world what we're really capable of creating,” said Wolf. “Every single artist involved in our Birthday theme for #BarbiebyWolfette completely poured their heart into this project.”

That might even be an understatement.

Dave from White Willow Photography designed and built the cake's structure with spinning wheels, making it possible to shoot every single side of the life size cake dress.

Kakes by Kathie then spent over 20 hours icing the cake dress.

“She went through 108 bags of icing sugar alone ... we had two mix masters going all day and night,” Wolf said.

Getting Makenna into the dress proved to be one of the most difficult parts. They ended up hoisting her up on a 2X4 and lowering her into the centre.

“We all had an idea of how much work this specific theme was going to be ... but it was nowhere near what we anticipated,” Wolf continued. “We all have insanely busy schedules... meaning 70% of this project was created all through the night before.”

In the end, we’d say it was definitely worth it considering all the people who are going to be wow’d by what the group came up with. Wolf said working with everyone on the project was a great experience.

“The most inspiring thing you can do is surround yourself with people who want achieve more with their passion, their career, and their life.”

So far, Barbie by Wolfette has been picked up by Whim Magazine out of Australia and Foxglove Magazine in the U.S and will be featured with these publications for all of 2017 with each Barbie release.

You can look out for a new release in the collection every month on the Wolfette Styling Instagram.
