Interior Health has provided its first of two weekly updates on the Big White community COVID-19 cluster.

The health authority has identified 19 additional cases over the past four days, bringing the total number of cases to date up to 162.

Currently, 29 cases are active, while 133 people have now recovered.

“Everyone in the Big White community is reminded to avoid social gatherings and that socialization must be limited to immediate household bubbles,” said an IH statement.

“Please follow public health guidance such as physical distancing, washing your hands regularly and wearing a mask.”

Of the 162 cases linked to this cluster, 107 were identified in people who live on the mountain.

That’s why IH says the risk remains low for families and individuals visiting Big White who follow public health guidance.

“It is safe to go to Big White when you stick to your immediate household bubble and avoid socializing and gathering,” the statement said.

Health officials continue to provide outreach COVID-19 testing and support to the Big White community.
