Big White Ski Resort has issued a public warning after a size two avalanche was triggered over the weekend.

On Sunday evening, ski patrol reported that the avalanche occurred on The Cliff and snowmobile tracks could clearly be seen in the area.

Snowmobiles are not permitted within the resort's recreational area and due to the fact the resort is closed no safety measures are currently in place.

The mountain has released a trail map that highlights the available recreation areas in green, along with a reminder that any access to the terrain above the village is not permitted.

Big White Ski Resort is tentatively planning to open for its summer season on July 1.
