It will be a ski season like never before at Big White this winter.
On Thursday, the resort confirmed that because of the on-going pandemic skating, tubing and night skiing will be suspended for the entirety of the season.
As expected, masks will be a requirement in lift lines during loading and unloading as well as in all indoor venues.
Plans are also in place for lift lines to be stretched to help maintain physical distancing.
Season pass holders will be able to go direct to the lines to load alongside their social bubble and single riders will be permitted on the lifts.
Day tickets must be purchases in advance online this year, but there will only be a limited number of tickets available to help maintain capacity on the mountain.
“Around the resort safety is the priority. Unfortunately, people who are unable to follow safety protocols or use required safety equipment while loading, unloading or riding a chairlift are simply unable to ride a chairlift,” said president Peter Plimmer in a statement.
"Not following protocols set up for safety is not a risk that Big White Ski Resort Ltd can allow you or anyone else to take. This has nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with maintaining the safety of our staff, yourself and the safety of our other guests."
