The Regional District of Kootenay Boundry (RDKB) has announced its support of a retail cannabis store at Big White Ski Resort.

According to a release, the board supported an application by Monashee Mountain Cannabis during a recent meeting.

“The application is compliant with RDKB bylaws and meets location criteria including visibility, parking, hours of operation and distance from more public or populated areas so received Board support,” stated the RDKB in a release.

A public consultation meeting was held at Big White and public comments were solicited online.

Approval of retail cannabis stores have been slow moving in B.C.’s southern interior, with most stores waiting four to six months for approval.

However, that timeline could work well for Big Whites 2019/2020 winter season.
