People won’t be busting out their skis and snowboards to shred the slopes at Big White any time soon, but a blast of wintry weather made opening day briefly feel within reach.
Today marks exactly three months until opening day of the 2024-25 winter season at Big White Ski Resort – Nov. 28, 2024 – but it felt a lot closer as snow fell in the village on Tuesday.
This morning, the mountain shared some photos from Andrew Jay showcasing a rare August snowfall on the hill, with a simple caption that likely summed up how many were feeling.
“Winter vibes in August?! Bring it on!!!”
But those winter vibes won’t last long, as there are still four weeks left in summer and the upcoming forecast reflects that.
The Okanagan will get plenty of sunshine over the coming days and it’s expected to push 30°C over the Labour Day long weekend.
That’s good news for Big White, however, as the resort will put a wrap on the summer season by hosting the BC Cup downhill mountain bike race on Saturday and Sunday.
For those who are meticulously counting down the 92 days until Nov. 28, the annual Big White winter gear sale will also be held this weekend, Saturday through Monday in the village.
