Unlabelled Botox Seized from Vancouver Nail Bar

Health Canada has seized what is thought to be unlabeled Botox from a nail bar in Vancouver.

According to Health Canada the product was being injected at Art Nails Ltd., located at 751 Helmcken Street in Vancouver. The product did not have a label and the store owner claimed that it was Botox. The product had been injected to consumers and anyone who may have had the injection at the nail bar are being asked to contact their healthcare practitioner. Potential risks associated with injecting an unauthorized version of a health product such as Botox, can range from mild local paralysis to death.

Health Canada has seized the product to mitigate the potential risk to consumers and the owner is said to be cooperating and has agreed to no longer import the product. Health Canada is working with the Canada Border Services Agency to help prevent further importation of this product.
