Kelownians over 50 have been invited for a free health assessment.

The Kelowna Family YMCA and H20 Adventure + Fitness Centre will host the tests.

Each one takes 45–60 minutes and measures a variety of health indicators, including blood pressure, cardiovascular endurance, balance, flexibility and agility.

“We want to make it easier for older adults to be active and social, while preventing chronic diseases,” said Alyssa Jackson, the YMCA’s health and fitness supervisor.

“These health assessments give seniors a starting point to base their exercise routines, introduce them to our supportive YMCA community, and give them information on programs and services that can help them reach their goals.”

Donna and Les Mash, meanwhile, praised the assessments.

“[They] showed us a lot of areas where we were lacking and what we needed to work on," Donna said.

The assessments are being held on Friday, Oct. 25 at H20 Adventure + Fitness Centre and at Kelowna Family YMCA on Friday, Nov. 1.

They run from 8 am to 1 pm.
