Argus Properties -- one of Kelowna's largest real estate companies -- is an exceptional place to work.

And that is now being officially recognized with Gold Seal Employer status from the Canadian Construction Association.

The Gold Seal designation is confirmation that Argus is committed to excellence in construction and provides ongoing support for all its construction professionals to excel, too.

"We compete to hire the very best people in construction management," said Argus managing director Larry Sie.

"Our portfolio encompasses a wide range of properties, including construction of commercial buildings, hotels, shopping centres, residential developments and business parks. This broad range of construction projects requires the very best construction managers."

Kelowna-based Argus, which is owned by CEO Ted Callahan, has been in business for over 50 years and has 600 employees in the Okanagan.

"Argus Properties partners in construction with major brands such as Marriott, Hilton, UBC, the City of Kelowna, Starbucks, Okanagan College and many others," said Sie.

"Our own commitment to excellence and this industry recognition are meaningful to these companies which align their brands with ours."

Argus headquarters is located in The Manhattan office building in north downtown Kelowna.

Argus' portfolio of properties includes the office building at 1060 Manhattan Dr. where Argus headquarters is also located; business parks near Kelowna airport, in West Kelowna and in Lake Country; shopping centres Mission Park in Kelowna's Lower Mission and Willow Park in Rutland; apartment buildings Mill Creek Estates, The Woods at Willow Park, Willow Park Manor, Brockton Manor and Fairlane Court; and hotels Eldorado, Manteo, Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton and Four Points by Sheraton.

Speaking of the Four Points, it was the first 'airport hotel' in Kelowna when it was built a decade ago across the highway from Kelowna International Airport.

The Four Points was initially built as a 120 room hotel with convention space and Gulfstream restaurant.

The newly expanded, 175-room Four Points by Sheraton across from Kelowna airport is in the Argus portfolio.

This year the hotel was expanded with 55 more rooms and some more meeting space.

Argus is celebrating the bigger, better hotel with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 2 and then tours of new rooms and bites at Gulfstream.

In between the Four Points opening and expansion, demand for hotel rooms near Kelowna airport was so great that Argus also built the 140-room Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton just 50 metres from the Four Points.

"Our work touches every facet of our community and will have a profound impact for decades to come," summed up Sie.

"Our relationship with the communities in which we work is at the heart of Argus Properties and everything we do. We are honoured to have received the Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal recognition."
