The grand opening celebration event isn’t until Saturday, but JYSK has quietly opened the doors to its new Kelowna location this week.

Less than a year after closing its old Kelowna location, JYSK has re-entered the market with a 27,000 square foot store in Orchard Plaza, next to Winners.

JYSK CEO Ludnik G Kristjansson said they’ve been working hard to offer a unique shopping experience to Kelowna residents.

“While providing excellent service and reliable quality, we enjoy helping customers with our product knowledge and expertise,” he explained.

“This new store offers our customers a great layout with JYSK products set up and displayed, as you would like to see them in your own home.”

Thomas Sagmeon is the district manager for the new Kelowna store, which is one of 66 JYSK locations across Canada.

Sagmoen will certainly be hoping that JYSK has more success in its new Orchard Plaza space than the previous two tenants.

Bed, Bath & Beyond shut its doors in that spot in the spring of 2023 after the company went bankrupt, then Rooms+Spaces lasted just a few months before it was evicted due to unpaid rent.

JYSK, on the other hand, was forced from its long-standing home in Dilworth Shopping Centre last summer along with several other businesses.

They all had to vacate to make room for a large residential and commercial development that will add hundreds of housing units to the area.

While the store is now open, the official grand opening celebration will be held on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 9 am.

Boa Vida Coffee Cart will be on site to serve up tasty brews from 8 am until 1 pm and the first 200 customers will receive a free $25 JYSK promo card.
