A final concrete-pour this week will cap off the largest parkade between Vancouver and Calgary – part of Kelowna’s much-heralded Landmark 7 project.

The pour for the project’s parking garage will take place on Thursday, developers Stober Group said.

All seven levels of parking will be integrated with the 23-storey office tower, which is also the largest of its kind between Vancouver and Calgary.

The overall project, which is expected to be completed in spring 2022, promises to offer 225,000 square feet of commercial space.

Stober Group said vacancy rates in the Landmark District are lower than 1% – and the firm remains bullish about the future offices despite uncertainty caused by COVID-19.

“While there is likely to be some pull-back in overall office demand as more people work from home, leading technology companies are trying to figure out not so much what they should do with their offices, but how their offices can help them find and keep talent,” Dave McAnerney, chief operating officer of Stober Group, said.

“We believe Kelowna is the kind of community that can attract leading companies.”

Stober Group’s marketing agent, Dallas Gray, said workers are “no longer interested in living in the suburbs of major urban centres.”

Gray added: “They want excitement and a great quality of life, which Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley delivers.”
