Outdoor enthusiasts in the Central Okanagan have a new place to shop.

The brand new Fjällräven store in downtown Kelowna is now open to the public.

The latest addition to the city’s retail landscape is located at 345 Bernard Ave.

Fjällräven is a Swedish outdoor apparel and equipment brand that was founded by Åke Nordin in 1960.

Its main focus is upscale clothing along with bags and other luggage.

The company has brick-and-mortar locations in Vancouver, Victoria, Banff, Calgary and Edmonton, but the new Kelowna store will be its first in the BC Interior.

Another popular outdoor brand that is better known to most British Columbians will join Fjällräven on Bernard later this year.

Arc’teryx is set to open its first Kelowna store just down the street at 313 Bernard Ave.

The BC-based company focuses on technical apparel for mountaineering and alpine sports, and is known for its waterproof Gore-tex shell jackets, knitwear and down parkas.

An opening date for Arc’teryx has not yet been revealed and the building remains under renovation.
