While it's not an actual IKEA store, it may be the next best thing.

The Swedish furniture store recently opened its Kelowna "collection point," which allows online purchases regardless of size be shipped for a flat fee.

A media release posted to the company website says the fee will be $79.00 regardless of size or value of the purchase.

The collection point is located in Evans Court off of Highway 97:

“This means they will be able to ship as little as a single sofa or as much as an entire kitchen for a flat rate and represents significant savings over the average home delivery fee of $170,” read the press release.

IKEA Canada President Marsha Smith says customers who wish to take advantage of home delivery can still do so, with the delivery fees remaining the same.

“In such a large country, it is important to offer a variety of solutions we can use to make shopping easier for Canadians,” said Smith. “Launching these locations was a natural next step to make shopping online at www.IKEA.ca affordable for many more British Columbia residents.”

The Collection Points are not IKEA stores and are owned by third party service provider XPO, according to the release.

In addition to Kelowna’s location, collection points will also be located in Victoria and Nanaimo.
