New plans for the old Sears building in Orchard Park mall have been submitted to Kelowna City Council’s planning team.

Part of the proposal is demolishing close to half of the current structure to create more space for parking.

The other half, meanwhile, would be occupied by clothing store Mark’s Work Wearhouse.

The access to Dilworth will also be shut off, city planner Adam Cseke told KelownaNow.

Cseke said he was unsure if Mark’s – which already has locations in Kelowna and West Kelowna – was expanding or moving.

“They’re hoping to get it open by Christmas,” he added.

“That’s the goal.”

The Sears store closed down in January 2018 following the company’s liquidation.
