A popular downtown Kelowna bar has shut down.

Social 242 Grill and Lounge on Lawrence Avenue has closed down after 13 years in business.

Owner Dan Mulgrew shared a brief goodbye message along with some photos to the Social 242’s social media accounts on Thursday morning.

“Thanks for all the memories over the last 13 years,” he wrote. “We couldn’t have done it without you!”

He added that the memories made at Social 242 “will live on forever.”

Mulgrew also owns the nearby Tonics Pub & Grill and Yamas Taverna, and he encouraged people to come visit him and the crew at those businesses.

KelownaNow has reached out for more information on the decision to close Social 242, but Mulgrew has not yet been available for comment.
